After an analysis of the local situation, in fact, it appeared to be clear that the principal problems of the country are social tensions aggravated by cultural and religious questions, and ethnic affiliations. The Curia Generalizia Agostiniana, in partnership with the Apurimac Association non-profit organization and the Augustinian Province of Nigeria, has identified the educational areas a priority in order to promote peace and dialogue, necessary characteristics in order to guarantee a process of development that is long lasting and sustainable.
The project began with a first and important phase of construction of secondary, bording schools for 600 students who come, for the most part, from families in needs. After having constructed the school and having equipped it, the second phase is concentrated on educational activities that are aimed at the students as well as the teachers. Saint Augustine School wishes to distinguish itself for the quality of its teaching through the continual betterment of educational programs as well as the constant updating of its teachers. In 2010, the year the school began, it opened with 130 students, and growing year by year, and since 2014 they have been educating 500 boys and girls who come from every part of the country and from other African nations. In September 2014 the first 100 students graduated despite the attacks, the bombs, the kidnappings and the conditions of poverty of the area.
