SEVA for AFRICA is an independent and neutral Italian foundation, created to guarantee safe, constant and free access to renewable energy to small medical dispensaries, often located in the most remote or disadvantaged locations in sub-Saharan Africa, to missions, hospitals, to centers established for pumping water for irrigation or drinking purposes, to reception centers that have grown up on the borders of countries at war or to schools of all levels that welcome young people from slums. The donation and installation of photovoltaic systems are very precious gifts for all those entities that deal with international solidarity and development cooperation. In fact, photovoltaic systems guarantee the production of clean and renewable energy for everyone.
Thanks to the financial support and collaboration with the benefit company SEVA srl and their association SEVA for AFRICA, in March 2022 we installed a photovoltaic system in the Juvenat Center in Dungu. The city of almost 100,000 inhabitants did not have an electricity production plant and the little light was produced by diesel power generators, with a very high economic cost and environmental impact.
Today everything works perfectly and now the reception, training and reintegration center for former child soldiers has electricity, produced by a 12 kW photovoltaic system and 14 kWh of storage.
The storage system also guarantees electricity for night lighting, which is essential for the safety of the centre.
Thanks to SEVA for AFRICA we are now able to produce enough energy for all the workshops (carpentry, IT and tailoring), to illuminate the children’s rooms and the recreational activities room.
