Formation: the Augustinian development unit

Our goal is to improve the preparation of our missionaries and local staff in order to make them more effective in managing national and international projects.

One of the Foundation’s goals is to improve the preparation of our missionaries and local staff in order to make them more effective in managing national and international projects.
The confreres in Kenya created the Project Development Unit precisely to collect the ideas of the Augustinian communities in Kenya, transform them into real projects and then manage them with the best operational tools.
The training course, financed by Misean cara, lasted a year.
We started with classroom training and then moved on to use some operational tools and ended up drawing up a Five-Year Programmatic Document.
We started with a needs assessment that involved hundreds of people. We then moved on reprocessing the data to transform it into a country program with budget, timetable, monitoring and evaluation system.

At the same time, some operating manuals were studied and drawn up:

  • Child protection policies;
  • Manual for administrative management;
  • Personnel management manual.

The second phase of the project (2023-2024) involves the dissemination of the practices in all communities and the equipping of the central office in Nairobi. Furthermore, the Vicariate will have to present its first request for funding to an international organisation.
