The Augustinian friars arrived in Kenya in 2007 and today they have communities and social programs in Nairobi, Ishiara, Kisumu and Eldoret.
Besides the problems of terrorism, because of the presence of the group Al Shabab, the country has evident problems of social disparity, inefficiency in the areas of education and sanitation and there is great discrimination against women. In order to respond to the needs of the local people, the Curia Generalizia, with its sector for projects and its Foundation, has supported the construction of a school and a policlinic in Babadogo, in the outskirts of Nairobi, a multipurpose center in Kisumu, thanks to which a program of social and economic support for women in rural communities has been developed, and a program of intercultural dialogue has been begun in Eldoret.
