Training for Augustinian missionaries in the DRC to improve their social impact

Thanks to the training programs developed by Osafund, missionaries manage social projects using models from the European Commission.

One of the Foundation’s goal is to improve the preparation of our missionaries and local staff in order to make them more effective in managing national and international projects.

The confreres in the DRC, thanks to various training programs developed by the Italian Foundation, have been managing social projects for years using models from the European Commission.

We can say that they have a really good level of administrative and operational management, as well as the use of models for monitoring and evaluation. They have also drawn up some operating manuals including:

  • Child protection policies;
  • Manual for administrative management.

These professionalisms, however, are limited to some confreres in Kinshasa and Dungu and are connected only to the social projects managed with the Italian Foundation.

The objective of this new training path is to involve many more confreres from all communities.
The training project was developed by the Italian Foundation and the Congolese company DynamiZ Asbl and saw the participation of 22 people, including 18 brothers from the communities of Amadi, Poko, Buta, Dungu and Kinshasa.

The project included training in:

-Project Concepts
-Project Cycle Management
-Project Framework
-Risk Analysis
-Project Planning
-Project Monitoring
-Defining and Organizing a Project
-Project Management Leadership
-Keys to Effective Project Management
-Value-Based Management results
-Evaluation of a project
-Administrative Management of the project
-Financial Management of the project
-Duties of the project manager
-Participatory approach in managing projects successfully
-Quality Management: tools and techniques
-Feedback on the project: image (photograph) and audiovisual session.

We started with classroom trainings and then moved on to using some operational tools and ended up drafting a Five-Year Programmatic Document.
